The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Psalm 19:1 (NIV)

On August 21, 2017, people across the United States from Oregon to South Carolina were able to witness and experience a total solar eclipse, where the moon passed between the earth and the sun, blocking the sun's rays for several minutes. It was am amazing event that brought many people together around the world.

As Laura Andrews, from Tennessee, watched others gazing at this celestial sight, wearing protective solar glasses, she realized everyone was focused on something much greater than themselves. It also occurred to Laura that all our differences and opposing points of view had been laid aside; all our problems and concerns had been temporarily forgotten. Everyone was united and joyful as they watched this stellar wonder of creation together.

Laura wondered what our lives and this world might look like if we tried to keep our hearts and minds just as focused on the wonderful, loving Creator of the universe.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the wonders of creation. Help us to remain focused on you so that we can reflect your light and love in all that we say and do. Amen.
