Read Romans 8:14-21
"How beautiful your sandaled feet, O prince's daughter!" Song of Songs 7:1 (NIV)
Jodie Dennis, from Northamptonshire, United Kingdom, and her husband spent some time living in Nicaragua as missionaries. Jodie struggled with the relentless heat. Getting through the day and doing a few basic chores were often all she could manage. She suffered from migraines and frequently wondered what she was doing there. She wasn't sure she would ever acclimate enough to be able to do anything useful.
Jodie wrote the above scripture in her journal after arriving in Nicaragua. It come to mind one morning as she sat looking at her feet. "How beautiful your sandaled feet, O prince's daughter!" Reading this verse, she was overwhelmed when she remembered that she is the daughter of the King: precious, loved, cherished, and honored. Jodie knew that God delighted in her and loved her. Whenever she doubted what she was doing in Nicaragua, She would look at her sandaled feet and remember who she was.. It didn't matter if she was able to accomplish great things while in Nicaragua. she was precious to God no matter what..
We are beautiful, not because of what we do or achieve but because we belong to God. May this knowledge comfort and encourage us, reminding us of our purpose regardless of what we do or do not accomplish.
So the next time you are feeling down, look at your feet and remember that God loves each and every one of us from the hair on our heads all the way down to our toes.
Prayer: Loving God, help us to walk through today covered in the knowledge of your love for us. Help us to remember our purpose in You. Amen.
